Son, brother, friend, host-son, boyfriend, fiancée, husband, son-in-law, father.
As a son i learned from my parents and got to know the world.
As a brother i learned how to interact more with my family and have gained a strong protective side, because as a brother and the oldest, I've always wanted to watch out for my siblings.
As a friend I've always tried to be someone to count on and who could be confided in.
As a host-son in Norway i think i didn't do as well at that, i didn't learn the language as much as I wanted and i don't think i ever fully showed my appreciation for my host family letting me into their home and spending a year with them.
As a boyfriend I always tried to be a gentleman.
As a fiancée i often thought about what the future would hold.
As a husband I've tried to do right by my family, supporting us in every way I could. I think I've done a pretty good job, I've had my stumbles along the way, but I've figured things out along the way as well. every day I try to be better at being all these things, because up until this point being a husband has been the most complex role of my life.
As a son-in-law i have a special role because i have the privilege of working with my in-laws who are very incredible and patient people.
As a soon to be father, i think i face what will undoubtedly be the most trying, rewarding, at times frustrating, and most amazing part of my life.
I can't really express how happy it makes me to know that my son will be with us soon. It has had me a little distracted of late. But i still will try my best at all the things that i do. I just hope that i lead an example that my son will take away from and become a better man than I.
